The Perfect Gift for Valentine’s Day: A Wooden Watch
Gab and I are not big on celebrations, we like to keep things simple for occasions like our anniversaries, birthdays, and even Valentine's. However, our first Valentine's as a married couple is coming up and I wanted this Valentine's to at least be somewhat special, especially since we rarely celebrate and gift each other things on special occasions. I'm like the worst at picking gifts for people. I never know what they might like, or I fear they might not like my gift at all -- especially when it came to guys! I used to think getting guys gifts was the most difficult thing. Girls are easy: gift cards to Sephora will usually do the trick. But guys? What on earth can you get them that will be useful 100% of the time?
The answer? Google.
I'm just kidding. Kind of. But I did Google and it turned out to be watches! Everyone (from your mother, father, brother, sister, best friend, neighbor, doorman -- you get the gist) can make use of a watch. It's timeless, it's functional, but it's also an accessory.
JORD creates these beautifully unique wood watches that would be perfect for the man in your life. The JORD wood watches were all so beautiful, it took a while (literally hours) for me to pick out what I thought would look best on Gab. After spending an entire day debating on styles, I picked out dark sandalwood & emerald wood watch from the Frankie series. The elegant designs of the JORD watches allow for both casual and dressed up looks, which is why I thought this would be the best gift to get for Gab.
There's an option to customise your JORD watch and add a wood engraving, which I think is perfect for Valentine's or when gifting it to someone special. However, I opted for no engraving because it's neither mine or Gab's style. I like that the option is there though, and might consider it in the future (I want to get my dad a JORD watch as a gift for his birthday!) JORD watches are also available in women's styles, in case you fancy getting yourself a gift!
I surprised Gab with the JORD watch earlier than expected cause I was too excited to wait until Valentine's day, and also because the doorman handed him the package when he came home! Gab was thrilled to have a new watch, and he wears it everyday to school and even to work.
Gab and I celebrated Valentine's Day two weeks early this year because it falls on a day where Gab will definitely be too busy with both school and work, and so we decided to dedicate a day where we'd have a mini Valentine's Day lunch date in the West Village after his class. But, things don't always go according to plan! We had no idea that most restaurants close after lunch and re-open late in the afternoon, and majority of the cafes we went to were full of people socializing with friend or freelancers doing work. We spent an hour walking around looking for an affordable place to eat, since all of our top choices were closed or too full. I was starting to get discouraged and bummed out, as this was not how I imagined our day would be going. I wanted to sit down in a nice brunch type cafe, not spend a cold afternoon walking around looking for a place to eat.
Eventually we finally found an open establishment that served Mexican food, mainly tacos, called Tacombi. We love tacos so we went for it. Gab & I laughed at how much effort it took just to find a place to eat, but we roll with the punches and make the best of it. We still had a great time trying out new food, making fun of each other for accidentally ordering extremely spicy tacos (we have a love/hate relationship with spicy food), and just being thankful we had a chance to spend some quality time together in between our schedules.
So, for the season of love, I’m throwing a giveaway where you can win $100 OFF any JORD wooden watch of your choice! $100 off is a huge chunk off most of the wooden watches, so I would take advantage of this giveaway!!!
