Quick Getaway Trip Essentials (+ how I spent my birthday)
I'm not a huge birthday celebrator. I guess it mostly has something to do with my introvert personality, and the mere thought of being the center of attention makes me feel pressured and anxious. So when Gab asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, the only thing I had in mind was to get away from the city, be around nature and just relax and have it be as normal of a day as possible.
A few days right before our planned trip to Gab's property in Lobo, Batangas, I received a wonderful birthday gift from Herschel Supply & Co., two gorgeous backpacks for Gab and me! The timing was perfect. So the day before my birthday, we packed our Herschel bags with our one night trip essentials:
Hers: instax camera, iphone 6, nivea sun block, pantene hair treatment, davines oi oil, v&m muru muru butter, nivea lip butter, sunnies, moleskine watercolor pad, winsor & newton watercolor panHis: sketchpad, pencils & pens, medicine box, iphone 5s, paracord bracelet, favorite tshirt
I absolutely love how comfortable these backpacks are, even though they look extra big on me! I actually use them every single time I have to lug my laptop from one place to another, because it doesn't hurt my back at all despite how heavy it is. I think it mostly has something to do with the foam-y thick straps? Either way, it's a perfect backpack for traveling... So much so that I was wondering if it were possible to bring it around Europe for a month. Unfortunately, I don't think it is. </3
We left Metro Manila around 5:00 in the morning so we'd have the entire day to do whatever. We arrived a little around 8 AM, which is a little late but Gab kept stopping over different places for gas, buying some food and then bathroom breaks (he has a tiny bladder and it drives me nuts sometimes haha) We arrived when the caretakers in their family property were not around so I had to go over the wall to open the gate for us, I ended up getting scratched in places, some mild bruising and realized how easy it is to break into their property. Haha
We ended up taking a nap from 9:30 to 1 in the afternoon. Gab and I have terrible sleeping habits, often sleeping around 2-3AM. So you can image how sleepy we were. We originally planned to snorkel once we got there, but sleep won us over. The rest of the day was spent lounging around, making lunch, and having a swim. , Yes, I cook any homemade pizza in a toaster oven. It's just convenient. A favorite and the easiest "healthy" meal you can have: homemade veggie pizza I love this swimsuit from @holyskullofficial on Instagram :)We had a really beautiful sunset view, with the sky more pastel than I've ever seen it. I literally had to stop cooking dinner just to run out and take a photo of it.
Gab and I spent the rest of the night watching the reruns of the Oscars on HBO. I also got a wee bit of work done before I headed off to bed. Gab stayed up watching a cooking show. He apparently had a hard time sleeping because he kept hearing things in the room while I slept like a baby. :P
We left by noon the next day as I had other errands to run... But that one day trip away from the city was the perfect way to just recharge and reflect right before I hit 25. I'd say it was one of the best birthdays I've had :)
